When we need support in our lives, one of the most helpful things one person can do for another is to really listen – with respect, acceptance and empathy.
“To be effective, listening requires adequate time and full attention.”
Being clearly heard during psychotherapy provides the opportunity to explore important concerns, and be responded to without judgement or advice. The work could help you find new confidence and a deeper sense of wellbeing.
During each session, the intention is to create a supportive environment in which to express feelings and connect with a sense of inner health and wisdom. The approach regards the relationship between client and therapist as central to the work. With mutual trust and respect, a joint exploration of your own situation can begin, in your own way and at your own pace.
What is Core Process Psychotherapy?
Core Process Psychotherapy is a mindfulness-based approach that draws from both Western psychological theory and mindfulness training. The approach helps you to explore how you experience yourself and others in the present moment.
Each of us shapes our personality into a unique form which we identify as ‘me’ through which we relate to the outer world.
Core Process Psychotherapy aims to support a developing awareness of this process and how our history can limit us in our daily lives and relationships.
With greater awareness of our core state, our true potential will start to reveal itself.
Psychotherapy or Counselling?
Psychotherapy tends to be (although is not necessarily) longer term, in-depth work than counselling although the issues may be the same.
These may include:
Difficulties in relationship, including the feeling that it is my partner who needs the therapy
Feelings of low self esteem, loss or bereavement
Anxiety or fear, depression, isolation or deep unhappiness
A wish for enrichment of self-awareness and creativity or a yearning for something more from life
